Beacons of Boothbay Cruise (Thursdays)

Explore Maine's Lighthouses by land and sea!  Travel the winding Sasanoa River to Boothbay Harbor with wonderful views of the four lighthouses of the Boothbay Region:

• Cuckolds Lighthouse- Originally only a fog signal, the light protects the heavy boat traffic into Boothbay Harbor
• Ram Island Lighthouse-This lighthouse marks Fisherman Island Passage
• Hendricks Head Lighthouse-Now privately owned, this lighthouse is on the Sheepscot River in Southport
• Burnt Island Lighthouse-Situated one mile outside of Boothbay Harbor, this lighthouse is now a Maine state-owned educational facility. 

Then, stop to explore Burnt Island and its lighthouse and meet Keeper Joseph Muise and his family who will acquaint you with lighthouse living as it was in the 1950's. 

While on the island you can visit the keeper's home and climb the spiral staircase into the lantern room to enjoy spectacular views of Boothbay Harbor, or take a picturesque hike around the 5-acre island.

This cruise is 4.5 hours long, and includes a stop on Burnt Island. The Sagadahoc's professionally trained crew provides fascinating narration and a safe, comfortable cruise.  Food and beverages are available for purchase onboard.  Guests are welcome to bring aboard a picnic, but coolers are not allowed.  Due to Maine liquor laws, guests may not bring alcohol onboard, but beer and wine are available for purchase.

Tickets are non-refundable, except in the event of a weather cancellation.  The Sagadahoc is a covered boat and usually runs in light rain and other moderate weather conditions.  Cruises may be cancelled in the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions or unmet minimum ticket sales, and cancellations are made by the Captain on the day of the cruise.  If the Museum cancels a cruise, you will have the opportunity to reschedule, or receive a refund. 

The temperature on the water can vary throughout the day.  Please come prepared with extra layers. Access to the boat requires negotiating a ramp down to the float, and then boarding steps into the boat.  We are not able to accommodate wheelchairs. 

The experience of Maine from the water is like no other and the Kennebec River delights one and all! Your ticket price includes Museum admission for two consecutive days-come early or return the next day to visit our Museum shipyard and galleries.
